Andreas Ringwald is working on a broad class of theoretical and phenomenological questions. Among other things, he is one of the initiators of the ALPS and WISPDMX experiments at DESY and of the SHIPS helioscope at Hamburg Observatory. One focus of his work is on the theory and cosmology of axions and other weakly interaction slim particles beyond the standard model.

Further examples: Work on electroweak baryon- and lepton-number violation at high temperatures and high energies. Work on theory and phenomenology of electroweak instanton-induced baryon- and lepton-number violating processes at very high energies. Work on signatures of electroweak instanton-induced processes in cosmic rays and Monte-Carlo-simulations of these processes at future accelerators. Work on signatures of electroweak instanton-induced processes in cosmic rays and Monte-Carlo-simulations of these processes at future colliders. Work on theory and phenomenology of QCD-instanton induced, chirality-violating processes at HERA. Work on ultrahigh-energy cosmic neutrinos and physics beyond the Standard Model. Work on non-accelerator particle physics opportunities at DESY, in particular exploiting free-electron lasers.
