DESY´s Chairman of the Board of Directors Helmut Dosch and Administrative Director Christian Harringa have signed the Diversity Charter. This means that DESY is now part of Germany's largest diversity network.
The Diversity Charter is an initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions under the patronage of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
To date, around 3900 organizations with a total of 14 million employees have signed the Diversity Charter, which was founded in 2006.
By signing the Diversity Charter, DESY actively commits to a diverse as well as prejudice-free working environment and signals the appreciation of all employees regardless of their gender and gender identity, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity.
“We at DESY stand for open-mindedness and tolerance. At DESY, people from all over the world work together to solve the great questions and challenges facing humanity. For us, diversity is both a necessity and a strength. DESY will work to ensure that the international research community positions itself even more clearly against racism and discrimination and promotes diversity in research”, underlined DESY Director Helmut Dosch already last year.
At DESY, great importance is attached to an appreciative working atmosphere, the equality of all employees and a better compatibility of professional and private life.
